Hello my NLP friends, could you be a genius?
I know somewhere inside you’ve always considered that maybe in fact you are a genius…or maybe not.
The fact is that although many people may have the ability for extraordinary intellect, many of the strategies that geniuses like Einstein, Mozart, and DaVinci had in common can in fact be learned, and as a graduate of our NLP Certification Training…well you’ve already been taught them.
With a little bit of practice, you can turn these amazing techniques into unconscious skills and find yourself leaps and bounds ahead of your competitors, co-workers, friends and families when it comes to finding solutions and lead easier happier lives.
# 1 – Ability to chunk up and down.
So you remember chunking right? Simply stated big chunks are those large concepts and ideas, big pieces of information that have tons of details that are hidden within. Small chunks, of course, would be all those little bits of information that when all put together make the big chunk make sense.
Some people prefer to talk in vague, large chunks, while others provide bits of detail when they communicate. (Chunk size is by the way a meta program so your natural preference is not carved in stone and will change contextually).
Although each of us have contextual preferences with our chunk sizes, most will hang onto just one preference and identify with being a “big chunker” or a “small chunker”.
Genius, however, is born through the ability to do both fluently. The same way ambidextrous people can use either their right hand or their left.
Learning to be able to chunk up and down through thereby utilizing deductive and inductive reasoning is truly a skill worth developing. I suppose that may seem obvious, as having the option to look at it this way or that way provides us with alternate perspectives/positions and of course the more options we have the more freedom we have.
As the king of deductive/inductive reasoning, Sherlock Holmes would say, “It’s elementary my dear Watson, elementary!”
# 2 – Looking beyond the problem.
So often, so many have a problem and get stuck there…at the problem. They say things like “what if that happens?” or “what if that goes wrong?” “what if I can’t?” “what will I do if it doesn’t work out?”
Einstein offered “You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it”. In other words, you have to be out of your mind or at least have the ability to take another position/perspective (first, second, third) to find the answer. A problem cannot exist without a solution, they are different sides of the same coin.
Usually by looking just beyond the problem, or running the movie past the problem and into the worse case scenario and then beyond is exactly where you will find your solution. And I promise you it will be better than ever imagined.
No right minded genius would ever stop themselves at the problem…that just doesn’t make sense does it?
# 3 – Feedback vs Failure
When Thomas Edison was asked about his 2000 failed attempts at inventing a lightbulb he responded by saying that he didn’t fail, he discovered 2000 ways not to do it. With each attempt came discovery and learning to which he could apply in various areas of his life.
Failure doesn’t happen when we do not succeed failure is what happens when we don’t attempt.
When we do not get the result we are looking for we simply move on and do something different.
During your NLP Certification training, you were taught a plethora of skills many of which you’ve adapted immediately and unconsciously into your every day life.
A small invested in time each day will bring them to the surface and a little more awareness will take them to a whole other level. Unleash the genius within…it’s there.
In the immortal words of the band Smash Mouth, I leave you with these thoughts.
“You’ll never know if you don’t go, You’ll never shine if you don’t glow…”
